Better

Jade pointed out as we ate dinner this evening that I hadn't got cross with her all day! Yes, that is a very notable event. Probably just because we've been too busy.

Shannon's playschool has a parent rota for helping out once per term, and it was my turn today. Jade came too. She found it a bit boring actually, and apart from the times when she wasn't hanging on to me spent most of her time in the home corner. They both enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt, though, but then Jade got very upset when she made a slightly wobbly tooth get extremely loose while eating celery at lunchtime. So now that's two teeth hanging on by their fingernails (so to speak...) ..... the first of which has been like that for months. I do wish they'd both just come out, but she really gets quite scared and upset about it.

Then we came home for a bit of Tom & Jerry/Simpsons for the girls and a quick nap for me and then out to swimming. Having had a break of a few weeks due to bad colds/parental unwillingness to go, Jade astonished me by getting into the pool and launching straight into swimming a few metres, and then did it again and again. She normally just plays and saves practising 'proper' swimming till the end. She seems to be stuck at doing about 8 strokes in a row and then having to put her feet down, which seems odd. If you can do 8 strokes, couldn't you just keep going? Anyway, she'll get the hang of it in her own time, I'm sure. She's resistant to any but the gentlest of hints about improving technique, so it'll be her own way or not at all.
