Grrr, when will this child stop waking up and yelling several times each night? She knows how to get back to sleep on her own - why does she have to shout about it? We persevere, but (yawn), I'll be so glad when this particular problem is fixed! She is spending longer and longer at the breast during the day, maybe to make up for the lack of sucking time at night.
In 'other things', Tamsin's continuing to enjoy reading easy c-v-c words and a few others too. In an old slim book "Usborne First Steps to Reading" I picked up from a charity shop somewhere, she read a very short story with only a little help, including words like 'mouse', 'one', 'there' and 'home'. I must get on with the proper reading scheme we have, if only so that it tells me how to start teaching the more complicated and irregular words.
Tamsin found a digital thermometer lying around yesterday, and spent half the day with it in her mouth, repeatedly taking her temperature. We talked a bit about normal body temperature and fever.
Today we've been up to playschool to help clear out and tidy up, so we had a busy dusty morning. This afternoon I've been sooooo tired, and just vegetated mostly. Tried to tidy up Tamsin's bedroom but ended up with more mess than when we started, just relocated. Have sat and read this book which I've got out from the library, which would be my dream holiday although maybe not with a 3 and 4-year old ... but I'd love to do this someday.
And as Isabelle sinks her teeth into my leg as I sit here blogging, it reminds me that she is developing quite a biting habit which Tamsin never had. I'm musing on whether 5.40pm is too early to put them to bed ....?

nah, it's *never* too early to put them to bed..... remember - they can't tell the time yet ;o)
I'm with Katy, it's never too early. The year we lived in Scotland our girls regularly went to bed at half past five!
But what time do they get up in the morning then, that's the problem!
Oh I don't know I reckon 3 and 4 would be good fun :-). Actually we have an idea that if there is next one, we will go away for a good trip in the mat leave. Had hoped to with the second but it clashed with the house move the new job and other such spending priorities.
