June 22nd
I wish, on this date every year, I didn't keep checking the clock, remembering what was happening at this moment x years ago. This year x = 11. It was in the evening when it all started to go wrong. The nagging thoughts that had me tense all afternoon, grew larger and louder, until, after Bill got home, we decided to take Benjamin to the hospital in Birmingham to get him checked out. Well, we never got there. And ever since then, on 22nd June, I have spent the daytime thinking, "well, here we are on June 22nd, and I'm fine!", and then the sun starts to go down and the shadows lengthen and the feelings grow and I don't want to remember but I can't help it.

Running for your money
Okay, I know I have been neglecting this blog, but I have returned for a very important request.
On October 12th, I will be running (or walking!) 5K in memory of my son Benjamin. The race is being organised by and the money will go to Little Hearts Matter, the only charity in this country that supports all families with a child with a single ventricle heart condition (half a heart).
On the right sidebar, you will see my JustGiving donation widget. I know times are hard for some, but for those of you that can, please will you consider sponsoring me for doing the run.
The training is going .... er.... slowly. I had to have 5 weeks off due to a bad cough, and currently am up to running 5 minutes at a time! So I've a way to go, but I WILL finish the race, whether I run, walk or crawl!

Weird
There's a boy in our HE group called Ben. I think I've mentioned this before - I found out a few months ago that his birthday is the day before or after (can't quite remember which) my Benjamin's birthday - same year. And they dropped in today to give Jade an invitation to his birthday party on Saturday. So now on my calendar I have a note which says "2.30 - Ben's party". Just as it might well have been in other circumstances. Bizarre, but OK. It's not upsetting me or anything. Just feels slightly strange.
