I wonder what birthdays are like in heaven? Perhaps they don't have them. Perhaps heaven is just one long party anyway! Perhaps he's all grown up already, or perhaps he's ageless now. If he'd still been here he would have been 6 years old today. What a strange thought - that I would have had a 6-year old son. I can't make any sense of that. All I know is a tiny baby. We still miss him, but it doesn't hurt most of the time. But I guess I can be excused a bit of a slump today, when I've abandoned the 'no TV till 5pm' rule and left Tamsin in front of the box while I lie about taking things easy.
Soon we'll go out to take flowers to his grave, and this afternoon we'll make some cakes. I have a candle burning all day.
