Hooray, because after 2-3 years of wishing something like this would happen, at last I have found a gaggle of local girls who like coming round to play with Tamsin and the dog. There are three 11-year olds who live on our road who this week have been dropping in every day to walk the dog and then play with the girls, which has been nice. The 'yikes' bit is that a couple of times Tamsin has gone out with them for a walk, without me. They've stayed on the estate, and only been gone a max of half-an-hour, but it's still kind of scary. They're really nice, sensible girls, though. Comments please - would you let your 4-year old go out with 11-year olds unsupervised?
Isabelle wakes ..... must go!

would depend on the 11 year olds, and the place they were going I'm afraid.
I'm no help am I?
hmmm tough ibne - how quiet the estate, how sensible they are?
I would - well, you obviously trust them enough, as you've done it already.
When my girls go out on their own I set them specific time boundaries and they know that if they overstep the mark (ie they're late home) then that privilege will be removed - hence they are responsible and realise that it *is* a privilege. You could operate a similar system?
I guess I'm controlling too ;-) I would be happy for older kids to be around the house and garden, playing, but I wouldn't be happy to have let Hannah at that age go away with them. I would worry that they would start to do something that she felt uncomfortable with, and wouldn't be able to cope; that *they* might meet up with older again children, and suddenly my 4 yo, would be exposed to 13/14 year olds that she didn't know; and finally that they would simply get fed up, and maybe not think about returning her safely home. Sorry to be so gloomy.
Hmm I'm afraid I wouldn't.
